Today, we had the pleasure of announcing our 2023 Teachers of the Year! Please join us in congratulating these teachers in this accomplishment.
Mrs. Terra Carney, 3rd grade teacher at Riverwalk, is named Riverwalk Academy 2023 Elementary School Teacher of the Year.
Riverwalk Academy Elementary Principal, Mrs. Erica McCray said,
“Mrs. Carney is an amazing teacher who is always seeking new ways to learn and grow as an educator . She is dedicated to her students' success and has always provided an engaging and positive learning environment for her students. It is truly a pleasure to have Mrs. Carney as part of our school family.”
Mrs. Alyssa Snipes, 6th grade ELA teacher at Riverwalk, is named Riverwalk Academy 2023 Middle School Teacher of the Year.
Riverwalk Academy Secondary Principal (Riverwalk Campus), Dr. Christina Dempsey said,
“Mrs. Snipes is the embodiment of what a Riverwalk teacher should be. She is always willing to go above and beyond for her students. Her willingness to reflect on her craft as a teacher and her willingness to always be open to new ideas and practices allows her to make continuous improvements in her teaching. She maintains high expectations of all her students to make certain they are receiving a high quality and equitable education. Her students are so blessed to have her and we are honored and proud that she calls our PRIDE and Riverwalk Academy home.”
Mrs. Jamie Johnston, High School Math teacher at Riverwalk, is named Riverwalk Academy 2023 High School Teacher of the Year.
Riverwalk Academy Secondary Principal (York Tech Campus), Mr. Richard Ball said,
“Mrs. Johnston’s dedication to providing students with an exceptional education and developing their math skills is truly amazing. She goes above and beyond for others, inspiring students and demonstrating a commitment to excellence. Mrs. Johnston’s hard work and passion for teaching are an inspiration to us all. She is most deserving of this recognition.”
