Sept SMOTM

It's that time again! We love to recognize and honor the staff at Riverwalk Academy who stand out for their dedication and excellence. These staff members were nominated not just by peers but also by students and parents/guardians.

These individuals keep a positive attitude and are always willing to lend a hand to help our staff and students. These staff members put students first, and we are so thankful for the impact they make each day on our campus and our community They exemplify a commitment to our school culture and community through the way they treat those around them.

We would like to congratulate Ms. Bowman, Ms. Robinson, and Ms. Douglas for being selected as our September Staff Members of the Month! We greatly appreciate the time and energy they give to our Pride. These teachers demonstrate our Core Commitments at Riverwalk Academy!

Ms. Bowman, First Grade, was nominated by several parents who had this to say:

-She is awesome with communicating and my daughter loves her to death

-As my daughter struggled in first grade Mrs. Bowman was always accommodating and positive with her. When we had a meeting to discuss my daughter's future, Mrs. Bowman helped me to understand how holding her back a year would cause her to be successful in the future instead of letting her fail in 2nd grade. Mrs. Bowman kept my daughter interested in learning even if she was behind her peers. We kept her with Mrs. Bowman for her repeat year and I cannot stop telling everyone what an amazing teacher and support Mrs. Bowman was. She made my daughter feel like she could do it and she did! I have seen the biggest growth in my daughter’s learning since getting on the right track. Our daughter was excited to go into second grade for the 24’-25’ school year and ready for the challenge. Her little brother now has Mrs. Bowman for his first-grade year and has been excited to go every day since school started back because his teacher makes it fun!!! Mrs. Bowman showed respect to a young student who was struggling, caring for her student's future beyond her classroom, and kept me aware of everything going on in between. I thank her for making school fun and not having to hear my kids be sad about going to school!

Ms. Robinson, a part of our Front Office team, was nominated by two parents who said the following about her:

-Katie Robinson is one of the first people that the students see when they walk into the building. She is always smiling and energetic to greet all of the students. I know personally this makes my kids feel special that she says hello to them and, not only says hello, but includes their names. Mrs. Robinson is amazing when you call and need information. She is very informative and when it comes to something she may not know she will direct you to someone who can help you or get back to you with the information. Mrs. Robinson will always make you feel welcome when you come into the building no matter the reason. You can tell she has such a warm heart, enjoys her job, and loves the students!

-Mrs Robinson is one of the first faces that anyone sees when you enter Riverwalk Academy. She always greets people with a friendly smile from under her blanket.

Ms. Douglas, a high school teacher, was nominated by a colleague who wrote this:

-Dana came in early to help me set up the new classroom. She has also consistently helped me prepare for each class, working time she did not need to help me succeed. She's helped make sure accommodations are all met, and in brainstorming ways to assess students in ways I hadn't considered before. She's an excellent co-teacher who truly embodies collaborative ideas both with other staff members and with students.

A huge thank you goes to these amazing staff members; thank you for helping us demonstrate the #PowerOfOurPRIDE!
