During Black History Month, we honor the trailblazing Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African American pilots and support staff who shattered racial barriers during World War II. Trained at the Tuskegee Army Airfield in Alabama, these heroes flew over 15,000 combat sorties and earned over 150 Distinguished Flying Crosses. Despite facing discrimination, they proved their unmatched skill, becoming the first Black military aviators in U.S. history. Their success not only changed the course of the war but also helped pave the way for desegregation in the U.S. Armed Forces. “The reason I love Riverwalk is because of the community. All of my teachers have been great and all of the staff members are amazing. I feel like I actually get to interact with the staff and teachers and they listen to what we as students need. What is School Choice?
School choice is the process of allowing every family to choose the K-12 educational options that best fit their children. Every child is unique, and all children learn differently. Some children might succeed at the neighborhood public school, while others might find a better fit in a public charter, public magnet, online, private, home, or nontraditional environment. That’s why educational choice is so important!
